POSEIDON — planned maritime validation scenario suite.

A planned maritime validation scenario suite for exercising HOLDFAST, SENTRY and VERITY under degraded conditions.

POSEIDON is a planned maritime validation scenario suite. It is designed to exercise HOLDFAST, SENTRY and VERITY through degraded communications, positioning uncertainty, relay loss and distributed sensing ambiguity.

The scenario contract, executable scenarios, run provenance and generated evidence are future work. The current programme pauses new simulator-led expansion until the Node Runtime and platform- adapter architecture are established; the descriptions below are the planned design, not an implemented environment.

Why POSEIDON

Maritime operations expose the trust problem.

Maritime autonomous and distributed systems often operate across long ranges, intermittent communications, contested positioning, relay-dependent networks, distributed sensors and degraded operator visibility.

POSEIDON is designed to provide a structured environment for testing whether HOLDFAST and VERITY preserve message continuity, produce trust-state evidence and support bounded mission behaviour under those conditions.

What POSEIDON Tests

Scenario questions.

  • 01What continuity evidence is produced when HOLDFAST is exercised under maritime RF degradation?
  • 02What assurance outcomes does VERITY produce under degraded PNT and relay conditions?
  • 03Can nodes rejoin without custody ambiguity under maritime isolation?
  • 04Can the scenario flag stale-command or replay-like command-context symptoms?
  • 05Can operators see which evidence is nominal, stale, degraded, contradictory or insufficient?
  • 06What continuity evidence and assurance outcomes are produced when HOLDFAST and VERITY are exercised under maritime degradation?
Scenario Families

Five planned baseline maritime scenarios.

Scenario 1

Maritime C2 degradation

A distributed maritime mission experiences intermittent relay loss, rising latency and packet degradation. HOLDFAST is evaluated for message continuity evidence and VERITY is evaluated for command freshness, custody and mission-state confidence outcomes.

Scenario 2

Contested PNT and navigation ambiguity

A maritime autonomous system receives degraded or conflicting positioning evidence. VERITY evaluates position confidence, trajectory coherence and mission-state trust before downstream systems act on the state change.

Scenario 3

Node isolation and rejoin

A maritime node is isolated during a mission and later rejoins the network. HOLDFAST evaluates continuity and rejoin behaviour while VERITY evaluates custody continuity, freshness and whether the node state remains coherent.

Scenario 4

Distributed sensing confidence degradation

Multiple maritime sensors and relay nodes produce partial, delayed or contradictory evidence. VERITY evaluates confidence, provenance and operator-review triggers.

Scenario 5

Operator-facing mission divergence

The same mission is replayed with and without Resolvix assurance layers to produce simulation-backed evidence on how trust and continuity evidence affect mission-state confidence, escalation and bounded behaviour.

Next gate

Phase 1 — standalone modules and a deterministic Node Runtime MVP. Adapter SDK, platform adapters, hardware-in-the-loop and a controlled field pilot follow in later phases.

Not yet claimed

Field validation, RF validation, GNSS anti-spoof validation, anti-jam validation, SDR validation, waveform validation, operational deployment or combat validation.

Claim Boundary

POSEIDON is a simulation and validation environment. It produces simulation-backed evidence that supports hardware, HIL and field validation planning — and provides qualified partners with a structured, reproducible evidence base for integration and procurement discussions.
